8 arrested at DUI checkpoints
May 28, 2000 No CommentsSan Diego police arrested seven motorists at a sobriety checkpoint in Pacific Beach.
Police said 755 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Grand Avenue near Mission Bay High School. Twenty-five vehicles were stopped for further evaluation and seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence. The checkpoint was operated from 10:20 p.m. Friday to 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
In Chula Vista, a motorist was arrested for driving under the influence at a checkpoint. Chula Vista Police said 830 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Broadway near G Street. A total of 415 vehicles were stopped for further evaluation and one motorist was arrested for DUI.
Police also impounded six vehicles, issued five citations for driver’s license violations, and cited two motorists for traffic violations. The checkpoint was operated from 9 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. yesterday.
