Man Shot While Walking In Pacific Beach Alley

SAN DIEGO — A 25-year-old man was hospitalized Monday after being shot while walking in a Pacific Beach alley, police said. The man was walking near 2220 Grand Ave. when two men in a Ford Ranger drove up to him shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, San Diego police said.
They got out of the truck, asked the man where he was from — a query of the type generally intended to determine a stranger’s gang affiliation — and punched him, police said. One of the men then pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the chest, said police Sgt. Diane Wendell. The victim’s condition was not immediately reported.
