Man attacked, stabbed after being bounced from bar

SAN DIEGO – A man in his 20s who’d been thrown out of a Pacific Beach bar was jumped by four to five others men who beat him up and stabbed him 16 times with a knife.

Police officers, with the aid of a helicopter, caught two of them, including the one wielding the knife. Two others remain at large; no suspect descriptions were immediately available.

Police said the motive for the attack is not yet known.

The victim had been thrown out of the bar by bouncers and had walked several blocks before being attacked, police said. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Saturday, March 10, 2007 — Police continue to search for suspects wanted in connection to a stabbing ourside a popular bar in Pacific Beach. A 25-year-old was beaten and stabbed just outside of Bub’s Dive Bar & Grill on Garnet.

Police say the incident happened just outside of Bub’s Dive Bar & Grill on Garnett Avenue around 12:30am Friday, March 9. A 25-year-old man was reportedly thrown out of the bar. After walking several blocks, the man was jumped by four other men, one of whom stabbed the victim 16 times.

Two suspects, 25-year-old Matthew Thornton and 24-year-old Patrick Barreiro, have been arrested. Police are still searching for the other two suspects. The victim is expected to survive.
