Beach Alcohol Task Force: Revising Minutes?
July 13, 2007 1 CommentThe Beach Alcohol Task Force (BATF) was created by District Two Councilman Kevin Faulconer to be a ‘holistic’ review of alcohol-related issues in the beach communities of Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Mission Bay Park and Ocean Beach. To that end he convened 10 meetings from October 2006 – June 2007. These meetings were initially well documented by then staffer Alison Stanley.
You can review minutes as they were published and distributed from the links below.
The issue is that for three months the minutes were actually revised and then re-published on the District Two website, which at the time of this writing included links to some original and other revised minutes.
My concern is that these are meeting minutes from a public forum sponsored, hosted and administered by a San Diego City Councilman, Kevin Faulconer. I have inquired as to why these minutes were altered and will report back what I learn. If we are to have any integrity in the process of learning how we can improve the over-saturation of alcohol issues in the beach communities we certainly cannot be working against the one elected representative we have in City Hall.
Meeting Minutes as originally posted and as revised:
March 2007 ::: March 2007 – Revised
February 2007 ::: February 2007 – Revised
January 2007 ::: January 2007 – Revised

I have also included all the articles from the Beach and Bay Press and Peninsula Beacon which covered all the above meetings:

As it turns out, shortly after this posting, the original minutes were returned to the Councilman Faulconer’s District Two website.
