SAN DIEGO – A man was shot twice in the leg in Pacific Beach early Monday morning. The victim was on Garnet Avenue near Bayard Street just after 2 a.m. when he was confronted by a man who fired three shots at him, San Diego police said.
The victim, who is in his 20s, had been in some kind of a disturbance earlier in the evening and one of the men involved returned later and confronted him, police said. The shooter drove away in a dark-colored pickup similar to a Chevrolet S-10, police said. He was described as an Asian man with spiky hair.
The victim was hospitalized and is expected to recover from his injuries.

Fight in Pacific Beach Caught on Tape

A brutal fight in Pacific Beach that was caught on tape left one man in the hospital, and police desperately want to get in touch with those seen on the security tape.
San Diego Police Department Northern Division detectives are asking for assistance from the public in identifying a suspect and his companions in a shooting that happened in the early morning hours of Monday, September 17, 2007.
At about 2 a.m. the male victim was walking south on Mission Boulevard when he and his companions saw a fight in front of Ramiro’s Taco shop, located at 4525 Mission Boulevard. Some members of the victim’s group helped break up the fight. The victim and his companions continued walking east on Garnet Avenue where they were confronted by the suspect in the 900 block of Garnet. The suspect yelled, “Who pushed me?” pointed a gun at the victim and shot him three times.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, 5’8” to 5’11” 150 to 170 pounds, slim build, dark brown hair that was flat on the sides and spiked on top. He was wearing a blue shirt, baggy pants and a black fingerless glove on his right hand. The suspect fled in an awaiting dark- colored Chevy S10 pick up truck driven by a male. The weapon used was a black semi-automatic handgun.
A composite sketch of the suspect is included on page two of this news release. Surveillance video of the initial fight is available and additional still photographs of individuals who are believed to be companions of the suspect.
