2 hurt in hit-and-run, one Navy Seal

…Witnesses claimed the pedestrians, Salvatore Defranco, 24 and Damon Seamons, 24, were not fighting, as police first reported, but arguing as they crossed the street. Defranco’s head injuries are considered life-threatening, police said.

San Diego police are investigating a felony hit-and-run in Pacific Beach that occurred when two men in their 20′s who were fighting with each other, stepped off the sidewalk and were hit by a vehicle.

One man suffered massive head injuries and the other had cuts and scrapes after being hit by an SUV just before 2 a.m. on Garnet Avenue near Fanuel Street, police said.

Police said the vehicle was described as a newer, silver Jeep Grand Cherokee.

SUV Driver Flees After Seriously Injuring Navy SEAL

SAN DIEGO — A Navy SEAL and another man were both hit in Pacific Beach by the driver of a Jeep who fled the scene afterward.

The incident occurred at a little before 2 a.m. in the 1300 block of Garnet Avenue near Fanuel Street. According to investigators, the fight between Salvatore Defranco, 21, and Damon Seamons, 24, began in a 7-Eleven parking lot. Eventually the altercation moved to the nearby sidewalk, then the men stepped into the street and were hit by the a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was heading westbound.

Police said there were several witnesses to the incident but that they were all intoxicated. As a result, investigators said there is not a lot of reliable information about the incident. “There was a witness who followed the vehicle traveling west on Garnet, and he wrote down what he thought was the license plate,” San Diego police spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. “We did check that license plate, and it came down to a different vehicle. “Both men, who are Massachusetts natives, were taken to the hospital for treatment. Seamons’ injuries were minor, but Defranco suffered very serious head injuries.
