Place of Last Drink – DUI Arrest Survey
March 6, 2010 No CommentsA year-round survey is conducted by asking impaired drivers, arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), to respond to a variety of questions. One major purpose is for researchers to determine the offender’s place of last drink (POLD). This is the location the arrested individual reported they had their last drink before being detained. The two largest categories of locations cited are bars or restaurants and house parties.
This data has been collected for years but, is traditionally withheld from publication so as to allow researchers to use the information for statistical analysis purposes and develop positive-reinforcement relationships with alcohol establishments.
Here’s an analysis of that data for the County of San Diego published in 2008.
