Chula Vista checkpoint snares one DUI suspect

CHULA VISTA — Officers arrested one drunken driving suspect and impounded 18 vehicles at an overnight checkpoint that ended early today, Chula Vista police said.

The checkpoint was staffed at Main Street near Broadway from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m.

Officers gave field sobriety tests to seven drivers and arrested one, said officer Kenneth Hicks. He said officers impounded the vehicles of 18 drivers who weren’t properly licensed and issued 20 citations
