Streetlights needing repair – pedestrian and driver hazards
July 6, 2010 No CommentsUpdate: Well, it’s been almost 7 months now and most if not all of the nearly 70 streetlights reported back in December 2009 are still not repaired.
After another survey tonight we found an additional 39 burned out lights. We weren’t able to add these new lights to the map right away but, you get the point. 110 burned out streetlights in an area with an inordinate amount of drunk drivers is a recipe for disaster. I’ll submit these again tonight, as well as include a copy to Councilmember Kevin Faulconer’s office where Thyme Curtis has always been very helpful resolving these kinds of issues.
I’ve also submitted the entire lot of issues to the Just Fix It section of the San Diego Union Tribune. It’s too bad one has to start pulling out all the stops just to get things done in San Diego. It’s frustrating knowing how dangerous many of these intersections are right now. Just drive around and check out many of these intersections.
