2010 Floatopia on Mission Bay : Sail Bay
July 16, 2010 No CommentsOne of the last Floatopia events will take place July 17, 2010. Our hope is that no one is seriously injured.
Revelers use a loophole in the 2008 San Diego beach alcohol ordinance to continue their excessive drinking – caring little for the Sail Bay residents, families visiting the only family-friendly park in the area ( including swings, climbing structures and contemporary restroom facilities) and the tens of thousands of visitors from around the world.
As usual, when thousands of people get together with a primary focus being alcohol, dangerous behavior follows and serious injuries happen. Here’s a video of the last Floatopia on March 20, 2010.
If you are concerned and want to see this event eliminated as a matter of public safety please contact your city Councilmember and let them know how you feel.
