Pacific San Diego did a ‘news’ piece which was more a platform for two bar owners to espouse why they are such fantastic operators and why the ones of us working to improve conditions are somewhat wacky.

I’m not sure why the bar owners fear a CUP (conditional use permit) so badly but, they sure are doing their best to prevent one from even being discussed.

San Diego is the only top-10 city in California not to have an on-sale CUP. Seems like it would be a good idea for bar and ‘restaurant’ owners to work with us in establishing a fair CUP that works for everyone than to fight it and continue to fuel dividing the community.

Pacific Beach – A Community We Love

Articles and issues displayed on this site are a representative sample of the types of alcohol-related crime and safety issues happening in our beach community. Yes, these same issues happen in every city around the world. However, we believe there are unique factors in play in Pacific Beach, including a significant over-concentration of licenses, and are working to address them generally and specifically.

There are also many, many positive stories written about on Pacific Beach for good reason. PB is a fantastic, vibrant community of a diverse group of young and old, home-owners, renters, guests from San Diego and tourists from around the world. Our intent in providing the stories you'll read here are to point out significant alcohol-related issues that need attention as they affect not only how people perceive our community but, more importantly, people’s quality of life.
