Officer Hurt After Car Crashes Into Police Car

SAN DIEGO — A San Diego police officer is recovering on Sunday after his cruiser was rear-ended by a suspected DUI driver in Pacific Beach.
The crash occurred at about 2:13 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Garnet Avenue.
Police said the officer, whose name was not released, was inside his police cruiser when it was rear-ended by a driver going about 20 mph. The officer, who suffered neck and back injuries, was initially taken to the hospital but was released and is recovering at home. Police said 21-year-old Illene Lockridge was behind the wheel of the car that crashed into the officer’s car. Lockridge was given a field sobriety test, which she failed, and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
